TA-9897 REG: Accelerating Sanitation for All in Asia and the Pacific — Strengthening Wastewater Management in Dushanbevodokanal (DVK) (53266-001)
Dushanbe City, Republic of Tajikistan, received a $41.18 million grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the Dushanbe Water Supply and Sanitation Project (DWSSP), funding the rehabilitation of water supply and sewerage facilities with increased climate resilience and strengthened institutional capacity at State Unitary Enterprise Dushanbevodokanal (DVK) across the Shomansur district and surrounding areas.
Identifying appropriate sanitation options for pockets of the Karotegin and Zebuniso areas of Shomansur District that cannot be connected to gravity sewers; reviewing and optimizing processes at the Dushanbe WWTP, including multi-disciplinary operational training; enhancing laboratory capacity for wastewater quality testing; and assessing capacity for a wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) monitoring system to screen for respiratory, enteric, and systemic pathogens including SARS-CoV-2.
